2.4.3 Assigning the IP Network Address
The Internet Protocol
(
IP
)
network address is a 32-bit address in the form
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, where each

roup xxx is a decimal number ran

from 0 to 255.
If the module will be communicatin

on an open network or if the module’s derived
IP address is alread

bein

used, consult

our network administrator to obtain a

A space is provided for recordin

the IP network address on the label inside the
front door panel.

ou input the address before installin

the module or if

ou hot swap the module,

Note:
If

ou are usin
g
the confi
g
uration extension to chan
g
e the IP network
address,

ou also must input the backplane slot number. Without the slot number,
the s
y
stem will not reco
g
nize
y
our chan
g
es.
2.4.4 Assigning the Default Gateway Address and Subnet Mask
Consult
y
our network administrator to determine whether
y
ou need to specif
y
a
default
g
atewa
y
address and subnet mask. If this data is re
q
uired, the network
administrator should suppl
y
it. Input the
g
atewa
y
address in fields G4 throu
g
h G1.
Input the subnet mask at the bottom of the screen.
Note:
If
y
ou are usin
g
the confi
g
uration extension to assi
g

g

address
and subnet mask, remember to input a slot number as well. The slot number is

uired to activate the confi
g
uration extension.
2.4.5 Resetting the Module
If
y
ou chan
g
e the default confi
g
uration after installin
g
the module,
y
ou must reset
the module for
y
our chan
g
es to take effect. The module ma

it back in its slot.
CAUTION
DUPLICATE ADDRESS HAZARD
Be sure to re
g
ister the module’s IP network address with your system administrator to avoid
duplication.
Failure to observe this precaution can result in injury or equipment damage.
